Baidu’s third-quarter net profit was 7.9 billion yuan

Baidu released its unaudited financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2017, which ended Sept. 30 today. The report showed baidu’s total revenue in the third quarter was 23.5-billion yuan ($3.35 billion), up 29% from a year earlier. Net profit for the third quarter was 7.9 billion yuan ($1.2 billion), up 156% from a year earlier.

Financial performance points for the third quarter of 2017:

— total revenue in the third quarter totaled 235 billion yuan ($3.35 billion), up 29 percent from a year earlier. In the third quarter, mobile revenue accounted for 73 per cent of total revenue, up from 64 per cent in the same period last year.

Operating profit in the third quarter was 4.7 billion yuan ($706 million), up 69 percent from a year earlier. IQIYI reduced baidu’s operating margin by 11 percentage points in the third quarter, not according to U.S. general accounting standards. Baidu’s operating profit in the third quarter was 5.5 billion yuan ($833 million), up 73 percent from a year earlier, without the U.S. general accounting standards.

In the third quarter, the earnings per American depositary receipts were 26 yuan ($3.89), excluding equity incentive payouts (excluding U.S. general accounting standards).
